The Energy Department, part of the European Purchasing Organization of ArcelorMittal, is responsible for purchasing electricity, natural gas and industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon and hydrogen) and developing energy projects for the group such as energy efficiency, power plants to valorize off-gases, industrial gas plants, renewable energy projects, as well as CCS and CCU projects to accompany ArcelorMittal into its journey to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
Being part of this department, the Long-Term Contracts & Energy Projects team is responsible for purchasing Natural Gas and Electricity Long Term bilateral contracts, developing sourcing of Renewables through Power Purchase Agreements, on-site Renewables generation and partnerships, implementing Energy Efficiency services contracts and supporting mills in off gases valorization and CCUs projects.
The decarbonization roadmap of AM in Europe will lead to an increase of Electricity and Natural Gas needs to reach several dozen of TWh of consumption per year.
We are looking for a candidate on Renewable sourcing in Europe.
Scope, mission and Responsibilities of the candidate
Renewable Energy markets analysis
Costs analyses and support in optimization of energy consumption
Country analyses (main players, market organization, regulation)
Supplier’s strategy for the future,
Competitors strategy and follow up
Sourcing or project development (supply contract negotiation, power plant projects)
Lead negotiation:
define the negotiation strategy,
lead supplier meetings
analyze offers,
optimize business models to challenge the quotes received or in case of JV model
make proposal /recommendation for decision making
negotiate long form contracts
Support Co-development scheme deployment for ArcelorMittal’s land valorization
For Co-investment renewable projects
Participate to the valorization of an investment opportunity with M&A and partnership team
Lead PPAs negotiation related to this investment project
Be the point of contact with internal stakeholders (Sites, Trading team, Corporate Technical Team, Finance, Legal, etc) and suppliers or partners
Main characteristics and skills:
Professional experience minimum 8 years in energy field (either in an utility or producer or big energy consumer company)
Masters degree in Engineering or Economics
Fluent in English with minimum one European language (German, French or Spanish)
Experience in managing transversal projects
Dynamic, persistent, working autonomously and taking initiative
Strong analytical skills and ability to build business models
Ability to interact effectively and professionally within a multi-cultural environment, team player
Excellent communication and listening skills
Keen commercial sense
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency in Office Databases (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). VBA or R would be a plus
